Syllabus topic 2: Present Simple: I do, I don't, Do I?
Present Simple: I do, I don't, Do I?. Use the present simple for habits and facts.
The idea
Use the present simple for routines. Add -s or -es with he, she and it.
Structure & examples
Leo walks to work every day.
I work in a small shop.
Notice the pattern
With he, she or it, add -s; after -ch, -sh, -ss or -o, usually add -es. In questions and negatives, does carries the third-person ending, so the main verb returns to its base form: Does she work? She does not work.
My sister plays tennis.
Do you live nearby?
Important notes & common mistakes
Say she works, not she work.
Before you practice
First choose a form from the options. Then produce it yourself using the word or structure in the instruction. Finally, build complete sentences. Check the explanation after each answer and revisit any mistakes in your review list.
