Syllabus topic 36: Compound adjectives with numbers

Compound adjectives with numbers. A number-based compound adjective before a noun normally uses a singular unit and hyphens: a ten-minute walk.

How it works

A number-based compound adjective before a noun normally uses a singular unit and hyphens: a ten-minute walk. After the noun, an ordinary measure uses a plural: the walk takes ten minutes. Do not add plural -s inside the compound.
