Scamming the Scammers

Original fictional learning scenario. People, dialogue and personal experiences are created for language practice.
A video creator claimed to waste scammers' time by pretending to believe their stories. The edited clips looked satisfying: the dishonest caller appeared confused, and the audience enjoyed the reversal. In our media group, however, we asked what the clips left out. Viewers could not see every interaction, and imitating the creator might expose them to further contact or personal risks.
We decided that enjoying the video was different from treating it as a guide. Our project focused instead on preserving relevant messages, using reporting channels and helping someone who had been targeted without embarrassing them. The most useful response to a scam might look less dramatic than winning an argument on camera. It might prevent another payment or make a victim comfortable enough to ask for help.
