Original fictional learning scenario. People, dialogue and personal experiences are created for language practice.
Our fictional office team organised an alcohol-free month as a voluntary social experiment. I joined mainly because every work celebration seemed to happen in a bar. I wanted to discover whether the setting, rather than the drink itself, was what I enjoyed. During the month we tried a quiz night, a morning walk and a shared lunch.
Some colleagues did not join the challenge, and we agreed not to demand explanations. At the end, I did not publish a list of health claims based on my own experience. I simply noticed that our team had more ways to meet than before. The most useful change was keeping those alternatives after the month ended. A short challenge had prompted a longer conversation about inclusion and about how one familiar routine had become our unspoken default.
