Email making plans for visit

Syllabus topic 6: Email making plans for visit

100–150 words · Email. Your friend writes: 'I'm visiting your town next Saturday and arriving by train at ten. I'd like to see something outdoors, but I can't walk very far. Where shall we meet, and what should I bring?' Reply with a suitable plan and a bad-weather alternative.

Your writing task

Write 100–150 words. Your friend writes: 'I'm visiting your town next Saturday and arriving by train at ten. I'd like to see something outdoors, but I can't walk very far. Where shall we meet, and what should I bring?' Reply with a suitable plan and a bad-weather alternative.

Writing focus

Treat the friend's needs as constraints on your plan. A long walking tour would not answer this particular message well.

Hi Ben, I'm really pleased you're coming next Saturday. I'll meet you just outside the station entrance at ten. It's easy to find, and there are seats if your train arrives early. We could take the bus to the riverside garden. The stop is beside the entrance, and there are benches along the short path. We can sit by the water and have a picnic. Bring a light jacket and a drink; I'll bring sandwiches. If it rains, we can visit the small art gallery near the station instead. It has a café where we can catch up afterwards. Does that sound good? Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to do. See you soon, Anna
