Our museum project began with the title 'Three popular inventions from the 1920s'. We chose radio, television and the refrigerator. Then we discovered a problem: a technology can have a long history before it becomes familiar in homes. Calling the 1920s its birthday may be misleading. We kept the three objects but changed our display. For each one, we separated early experiments, later improvements and everyday use. A radio photograph showed a family listening together, while a television photograph showed experimental equipment. The pictures helped visitors see that not every invention was equally common at the same moment.
