Original fictional learning scenario. People, dialogue and personal experiences are created for language practice.

When a colleague sent me an article titled 'Why your coworkers hate you', I assumed it was a joke. Then I noticed one behaviour in the list: interrupting people to offer a solution before they had finished explaining a problem. I did that often. I thought I was being helpful, while others might have felt ignored.

Instead of guessing that everyone disliked me, I asked two trusted colleagues for feedback. They said my ideas were useful but sometimes arrived too early. At our next meeting, I wrote down my suggestion and waited. The discussion took a little longer, but the final plan included information I would otherwise have missed. The dramatic headline was less useful than a specific conversation.
