A fictional brochure presented a plan called the 'New High Protein Diet'. The word 'new' suggested discovery, while the capital letters made the name sound like an established scientific category. Our class examined the brochure as persuasive writing rather than adopting its instructions. It highlighted one nutrient, used photographs of energetic people and placed customer stories beside a product order form.
What it did not clearly explain was who had tested the complete plan, what comparison had been used or how it fitted different needs. Protein has a role in a balanced diet, but that fact alone cannot validate every programme built around the word. We separated a general nutritional statement from the brochure's commercial promises. The lesson was about recognising how a familiar scientific term can lend authority to a much larger claim that still requires its own evidence.
